Leanne – Alba Roses Holistic
I am a single mum, living in Pembrokeshire and a long term full-time Carer for my 23 year old son with special needs and in receipt of benefits. I wanted to set up my own business to prepare for when my son goes into supported living. I wanted to do this for myself because I enjoy it, and it gives me great pleasure seeing the transformation in other people. I help them to help themselves to remove blockages, ingrained habits and patterns, and for them to realise their full potential. It was also the right time as my son was accessing more respite from Adult Social Services so I could run my business around my caring duties.
Throughout caring for my son, I have kept myself busy and self-development has always been important. I have obtained many qualifications and skills over the years including Counselling, Usui Reiki, Angelic Reiki, Reiki Drumming, Pellowah, Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Pellowah was the catalyst in setting up my own healing business.
I wanted to create a soul and heart centred holistic practise specialising in expansive therapies for today’s modern world.
Why I Needed Purple Shoots?
I wanted to turn all these skills and qualifications into a business on a part-time basis, so I could continue with my caring duties when my son wasn’t at his Adult Social Services. I had limited previous work experience, and I was only wanting to undertake self-employed work alongside my caring duties, so I found it difficult to find anyone to help me start up. My son and I rely on each other financially so I wasn’t in a conventional position, and I needed a company that could understand this and were flexible. I saw Purple Shoots advertised on the Business Wales website and thought it was a great match for me, so I applied.
What Has Purple Shoots Done To Help?
Purple Shoots were able to grant me a loan of £3,000 in May 2022 to enable me to set up as a business. I was able to secure equipment for all I needed to start and all the items for business marketing, such as a professional website, business cards, flyers and banner. It also enabled me to pay rent on a room I found to do treatments.
What Has It Helped Achieve?
Three years on I successfully completed all my loan repayments on time. I moved home and have relocated my business to within my home in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire where I have my own healing studio. It is wheelchair accessible and has disabled facilities. As well as offering treatments on a range of therapies I also offer workshops and will be doing more teaching. As the business has succeeded and developed, I now offer workshops in Glastonbury, Devon and Cornwall in addition to Pembrokeshire. Since the loan I have also trained in Reflexology, Massage, Aromatherapy, and other various Quantum Energy Healing modalities including Prograna, Ishvara, 3 Healing and Umana. I am always available to answer any questions as to what these are. I really enjoy being at the forefront of these new forms of healing and I am always expanding what I offer. I am still a full-time Carer, but this is going to be changing soon, and the business will adapt with the changes.
